The author built this website because he wanted a friend. Maybe you do too.
Grown-ups find it hard to make new friends. Sami decided to say so out loud, and then, slightly embarrassed, he built a website.
Free. 18+. No dating. Your letter is read and answered by Sami's AI assistant, which signs its replies that way. Sami reads a summary of every day's letters.

Why this website exists
The author is a grown man with a job, a phone full of contacts and, for a while, nobody to call at nine o'clock on a Tuesday.
It wasn't a tragedy. It was quieter than that. Friends moved, got married, got busy. He got busy too. One day he noticed that the last real conversation he'd had, the kind where you lose track of time, was months ago.
So he did the slightly ridiculous thing. He built a website and put his hand up.
This is it. Sami isn't a company and isn't a therapist. He's someone who likes long talks, good questions and people who are a little bit different. He's reaching out to you, yes, you, the person reading this, to ask if you'd like to be friends.
And if you're looking for friends near you, not just him, this website will try to help with that too.

What kind of friend are you looking for?
Tick as many as you like when you write. There are no wrong answers, and "I'm not sure yet" is a fine one.
A friend, full stop
Someone to message, laugh with and check in on.
Friends in my city
People nearby for a walk, a coffee, a quiz night.
I'm new in town
Just moved and want to find your feet.
A study partner
Someone to keep you honest at the library. Or on video.
Someone to think out loud with
Philosophy, books, big questions, small questions that feel big at 2 a.m.
Someone to talk to about life
The hard bits, the confusing bits. A listening friend, not therapy.
Something else
Tell us in your own words.
Not here for: dating, romance, selling or recruiting. We will kindly say no. Talking about something hard? Here is where to find help now.
How it works, in short
- You write to Sami. A short form: who you are, what you're looking for, and a few lines in your own words.
- You get a reply. It comes from Sami's AI assistant, signed that way. It may ask a question or two back.
- An introduction, if there's a good one. The assistant describes someone (first name and interests only) and asks if you'd like to be introduced. Online first.
- Only if you both say yes. Then we share your first names and emails with each other. Nobody else gets your details.
About the "AI" in our name. An AI assistant reads and answers the letters and suggests introductions. It always says it is an AI. It never signs as Sami and never pretends to be a person. Anything that looks unsafe goes to Sami himself. Read Sami's note about it.

Who answers your letter (an honest note about the AI)
This site has "AI" in its name. Here is exactly what the AI does, and what it never does.
This week's question
What is something you believed at 18 that you do not believe now?
Replies go to sami@bemyfriendai.com and are read by Sami's AI assistant; Sami sees a daily summary. Nothing you send is published, here or anywhere else.
Where people are writing from
We're just starting.
No country has 5 or more members yet, so there is nothing to show. We will not show a number smaller than 5, and we will never round up.
How we count, honestly. A country only appears once it has 5 or more members, and every number is rounded down to the nearest 5. No city dots, no live ticker, no made-up numbers. So nobody can work out who joined.
Write to Sami
We're new and small, so for now everyone starts the same way: by writing a letter. Tell us who you are, what you're looking for, and one thing you could talk about for an hour.
Or email sami@bemyfriendai.com. Your letter is read and answered by Sami's AI assistant, which signs its replies that way. Sami reads a summary of every day's letters.
